5 Black Father Daughter Duo Winning In The Spotlight ?

Some like stars across the skies were literally born to shine, period! Sure enough, they had to go through the grilling process before officially landing the “verified” ticket in the spotlight, but through it all, one thing stood sure, pure raw talent running through the veins was undeniable.

So today, we celebrate five black father daughter duo doing their thing and dripping black magic in the limelight.

1. Ron and Jasmine Cephas Jones

Talk about #BlackMagic ?% This father-daughter Hollywood power duo repped big time at the recently concluded 72nd Creative Arts #Emmys, becoming the first father-daughter duo ever to win Emmys same year.

While ‘This Is Us’ star Ron won the Emmy for Guest Actor in a Drama Series at the Creative Arts Emmy’s ceremony for his epic role in ‘This Is Us,’ daughter Jasmine won the Outstanding Actress In A Short Form Comedy Or Drama Series for her role in #FreeRayshawn.

Ron is also a proud receipent of a Screen Actors Guild Award, Obie Award among others. While Jasmine also has the honours of a Grammy and an Antonyo award.

2. Stan and Sanaa Lathan

Iconic director and producer Stan Lathan and daughter, Nappily Ever After Star Sanaa can do bad by themselves but together, they make family magic only a few can dream of.

Stan Lathan; Super accomplished producer and one of Hollywood’s most prolific directors of television and filmboasts of an impressive resume; has directed many beloved sitcoms, including: Real Husbands of Hollywood, The Soul Man, Amen, Martin, Moesha, The Parkers, and The Steve Harvey Show, launched HBO’s groundbreaking Def Comedy Jam with partner Russell Simmons, directed episodes of sesame street has produced and directed the Tony Award winning, Def Poetry Jam on Broadway among many other high repped productions.

The effortless stunner has won pretigious awards such as: BET, Black Reel Awards, NACCP Awards amongst others.

3. Quincy Jones and Rashida Jones

Quincy Jones: You’ve obviously got to be living under a rock if the name Quincy Jones doesn’t ring a bell.

87 years, a super enviable career spanning over 60 years in the entertainment industry, 80 Grammy Award nominations, 28 Grammys, and a Grammy Legend Award in 1992! If that doesn’t scream SUPER SUCCESSFUL then I guess the books have just got be rewritten.

The legendary American record producer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, composer, arranger, and film and television producer has got the a-list of a-list stars under his name: Quincy is best known as a composer and record producer having worked with mega musicians such as Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Celene Dion and Aretha Franklin.

He is the most Grammy-nominated artist in history, with 79 nominations and 27 wins.

Rashida Jones: Not just a daughter of a super famous father, the 44 year old has also established herself in the entertainment industry.

Rashida Jones is an American actress, director, writer, and producer. she appeared as Louisa Fenn on the Fox drama series Boston Public, as Karen Filippelli on the NBC comedy series The Office, and as Ann Perkins on the NBC comedy series Parks and Recreation.

From 2016 to 2019, Jones starred as the lead in Angie Tribeca, and in 2020, she starred as Joya Barris in the Netflix series BlackAF.

Jones also appeared in the films I Love You, Man (2009), The Social Network (2010), Our Idiot Brother etc.

In 2018, her documentary Quincy, about her father, Quincy Jones, debuted on Netflix; it won the Grammy Award for Best Music Film in 2019.

4. Lenny and Zoe Kravitz

Born to Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet ( Denise Huxtable on the NBC sitcom The Cosby Show), Kravitz achieved recognition for her portrayal of Angel Salvadore in the 2011 superhero film X-Men: First Class, which was followed by supporting roles in The Divergent Series (2014–2016) and Mad Max: Fury Road (2015).

5. Will and Willow Smith

He is the only actor to have eight consecutive films gross over $100 million in the domestic box office, eleven consecutive films gross over $150 million internationally, and eight consecutive films.

Ranked as the most bankable star worldwide by Forbes, as of 2014, 17 of the 21 films in which he has had leading roles have accumulated worldwide gross earnings of over $100 million each, as of 2016, his films have grossed $7.5 billion at the global box office

Willow Smith
One look at Willow and Jaden and one fact holds through true, Will and Jada raised strong independent minded kids.

The actor starred alongside daughter Willow in action film I Am Legend. Willow was seven at the time when the film was released, making it her acting debut.

Willow has since become a singer as well as an actress and appears alongside her mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, and grandmother Adrienne Banfield-Jones, on the no-holds-barred Facebook Watch web series Red Table Talk.

She appeared in Kit Kittredge: An American Girl and received a Young Artist Award for her performance.
