Celebrities Are Beyond Excited for Marvel’s ‘Black Panther,’ and Their Tweets Are Priceless

After opening in theaters on Friday, Marvel’s latest film Black Panther is poised to shatter box office records with the best February movie opening of all time, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It might even top superhero films’ record holder, Marvel’s The Avengers, for best showing. Not only has the film already earned outstanding reviews from critics and viewers, celebrities have taken to Twitter to praise the film and encourage followers to make their way to theaters as soon as possible.

Black Panther has topped all other Marvel films with a score of 97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, beating The Avengers‘ previous record of 92 percent. It also received Marvel’s second A+ CinemaScore. In terms of cold hard cash, the film earned $75.8 million on Friday, putting it on the list of 10 best opening days ever, and it’s expected to make history by being on track to earn $205-210 million during the long President’s Day weekend. (For comparison, The Avengers made $207.4 million during its opening weekend in 2012.)

The superhero film also features a cast of mostly black actors—including Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong’oDanai Gurira, and Michael B. Jordan—which makes it stand out in a genre that’s often represented by white men. “Now we are seeing a black renaissance in Hollywood,” Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrissa Cullors wrote in a powerful essay for Glamour.com.

Celebrities like Shonda RhimesJanelle Monae, and Leslie Jones used their platforms to express their excitement about the film—and encourage moviegoers to get their tickets. But they aren’t the only ones: A ton of celebs are tweeting out about the movie, and the excitement is genuinely infectious.

Read on for some of the best celebrity reactions to the film:

I woke up this morning, opened my eyes and whispered to myself “Black Panther is here.” And I was instantly recovered from Idris’ engagement.

The trailers for Black Panther don’t even begin to do the movie justice. This is easily one of the best Marvel films I’ve ever seen.

Just left the “Black Panther” premiere if you don’t go see it I can’t be friends with you!!! IT WAS EXCELLENT, MOTIVATING, FUNNY AND JUST ALL AROUND FUCKING DOPE!!!

I’m glad the reviewers are showering Black Panther with praise. It really is a game changer. You don’t realize how similar superhero movies are to each other until you see one that breaks the mold.

Just watched Black Panther, RUN 2 this Film, Chadwick Boseman, Michael B Jordan off the hook, & EVERY woman in this film, no matter your own race, is the woman you want 2 be. Believe me when I tell you C this movie, it’s SO much more than you think it is.

My whole family’s out watching and I stayed here to work on the novel and I’m currently full of a bitter, aching regret.

Black Panther was unbelievable….I was honestly blown away by the acting & the overall story. Job well done to the entire team that was involved. Make sure y’all go check it out this weekend

One of the best things you can do for yourself and/or the ones you love is purchase some tix. I know it’s expensive to go to the theater, but its worth it for this one. You will exit forever impacted.

Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t!!!! Everybody go see !!!!! Let’s show our power at the box office!!!!!
