Empire is set to thrill fans across the globe once more.
Taraji P. Henson is reprising her iconic role as Loretha “Cookie” Lyon in a spinoff series centered around her at Fox. The comes as part of a two-year first-look deal the Emmy winning star signed with the show’s producer 20th Century Fox Television.
Although details are sketchy at the moment as regarding the plot, it does “follows what’s next for Cookie.”
“Empire” co-creator Danny Strong, Stacy A. Littlejohn and Yolonda Lawrence are penning the script, Sanaa Hamri joins in as director. Lee Daniels will serve as a non-writing EP alongside Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer and SamieFalvey.
“I believe that normalizing stories around stigmatizing matters will make them more palatable for audiences to embrace,” Henson said. “Art can change perception and I plan to develop projects that can help further the conversation. I also aim to help cultivate and establish new young talent and their stories because they are our future and deserve a voice and a platform to be heard.
