Meet Jemimah Jatau: Governor Nasir El-Rufai's Special Assistant

At just 31, Jemimah Jatau, holds an esteemed position most of her mates can only dream of – Special Assistant, Inter-Governmental Relations, to the Governor of Kaduna State, Nigeria · Kaduna State Government.

Jatau achieved the feat many thanks to her hard work and brilliance – following her emergence as the Best Graduating Fellow of the Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship in 2019, the program is named after the minister of social services in the 1950s and aimed at nurturing and empowering future leaders. Consequently, she was awarded a postgraduate scholarship to Harvard as well as a secured spot as one of Kaduna state governor’s assistants. She worked at the Kaduna State Liaison Office in Abuja as Special Assistant -Intergovernmental Relations as she processed her Harvard admission.

The special assistant recently bagged a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University, winning multiple awards, according to reports.

Recalling how it all started, Jemimah disclosed her former colleague told her about the fellowship which was posted on Governor El-Rufai’s Twitter page in 2018. Although skeptical at first, she decided to give it a shot.

Today, taking that big leap remains an unforgettable transformational journey for her.
