Siene Allwell-Brown: Trailblazer in Nigeria’s broadcasting industry clocks 70

Siene Allwell-Brown, a former television presenter with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), celebrates her 70th birthday. Throughout her illustrious career, Siene made a name for herself as a renowned journalist, newscaster, and editor, as well as a fashionista known for her beautiful outfits.

Born and raised in Nigeria, Siene received her education both in the country and abroad, including obtaining her LLB (Hons) in Law at Middlesex University in London and later completing the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD in France.

Siene’s career has been rich and diverse, starting with her work as a continuity announcer at the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation in the 1970s and later moving on to become a newscaster and reporter with the NTA. After her time with the NTA, Siene worked as the General Manager/Chief Executive for the Rivers State Television and then went on to become a principal partner at Allwell-Brown and Co. (solicitors).

Siene’s career reached new heights when she served as the General Manager of external communications for the Liquified Natural Gas Company, where she supervised the Communicators and Public Relations, Government Relations and Community Relations Departments.

Throughout her career, Siene has received numerous awards and honors, including the “Amaopuorubo” Grand Bonny Kingdom, the “Service to Humanity Award” by Radio, Television, and Theartre Workers Union (RATTAWU), and the “Certificate of Honor” for achievement geared towards the development of mankind and the Bonny kingdom. Siene was also voted the Best Nigerian Newscaster for three consecutive years by Lagos Life, a Guardian Newspapers publication.

Siene is also a proud member of various professional organizations, including the International Association of Business Communicators, International Public Relations Association (UK), Institute of Directors (Nigeria), National Association of Women Journalists, Nigerian Bar Association, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Nigerian union of Journalists, and Nigerian Women in Business.

Siene Allwell-Brown is a trailblazer who inspired many women to pursue a career in broadcasting. Her education, career, awards, and memberships serve as a testament to her hard work and dedication to her craft.
