Keyara Organics is a natural skincare company with a soul and a real passion for African ingredients. Founder and serial entrepreneur, Terryanne Chebet, has a vision to grow the company to be among the world’s leading Natural Skincare brands, understanding that everyone needs a natural skincare routine.
We spoke to Terryanne Chebet, the inspirational Kenyan woman entrepreneur and media personality behind the Keyara Organics brand this month to find out more….
What does your company do?
Keyara Organics is a Natural Skincare line, inspired by Africa and it’s wealth of natural oils and scents of the continent.
What inspired you to start your company?
I started my company after looking for natural skincare brands for my daughter, which were rare to find and not consistent on the shelves. I then saw a gap for a market that is keen on achieving beautiful skin the natural way.
Why should anyone use your service or product?
Keyara Organics has soul. We love the brand and what it does to us. We are passionate about skincare and we know that beauty is skin deep. Our team is the first one to test and critique our products, and only when we know we have it right do we sell. We personally take time to ensure our products are natural and safe. Our brand is also passionate about Africa, and growing a product that will change how the world looks at Africa, beautifully.
Tell us a little about your team
Keyara Organics has a small team led by myself, Terryanne Chebet. My Keyara Organics journey has been exciting and I am grateful for the support I have received from my team in growing this brand and engaging with new customers. Muthoni Irungu is in charge of our business development and she does a fantastic job liaising with new clients and outlets. Eugene Opere and Bernadette Cheruto lead on digital and social media marketing and are incredible in creating online conversations about our brand online. Our packaging team is led by Pamela Kembo.
Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And, do you come from an entrepreneurial background?
I’m a journalist but have always been fascinated by business, so perhaps my focus on financial journalism brought me here. I run another outfit which is a 360 degree communications firm, Scarlet Digital, with our key strengths being Digital ( Web Development, SEO, Blogging ) & Social Media, Marketing Communications, Content Creation, Public Relations and Brand Strategy.
What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?
I want Keyara Organics to be among the worlds leading Natural Skincare brands. I want to see us on store shelves in New York and in South Africa, in Casablanca and in Adelaide, in Kinsasha and Toronto, because everyone needs a natural skincare routine.
What gives you the most satisfaction being an entrepreneur?
Changing lives, making a difference, creating jobs and building brands.
What’s the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?
Just start. When a business idea gives you sleepless nights, start immediately and fall in love over and over again with your business.
When times are tough, and there are many such times, we are forced to think, be creative, and then for sure we can really grow from both a personal perspective and as a woman entrepreneur.
