In August 22, I can be; Girls conference, held an event with about fifty girls, aged between 8 and 12 attended the meeting with their parents. The sessions at the conference involved workshops that touched on social, physical, and psychological challenges the young girls go through in the society. The highlight of the sessions was on ways to tackle wavering self-esteem. At the conference, Olivia Allen said that she had noticed there was a decline in the morale of girls once they reached puberty.
Allen said the meeting was necessary because it aimed at helping girls boost their self-confidence once they get to puberty. Allen remarked that she wanted to uplift the confidence of her peers after admitting that she noticed a difference in her self-esteem immediately she began puberty.
Allen planned the conference on her own with the mother, Anitra Allen providing the financial assistance. The conference featured different speakers who led separate workshops that focused on turning passion into a business, personal health care, and envisioning success. Ashley D. Miller and Barbara Sexton Smith were the keynote speakers, and they addressed the conference on pursuing dreams and confidence with the Mayor of Louisville, Greg Fischer opening the conference and commending Olivia Allen for her community work.
According to her mother, this is not Allen’s first community work, she had previously held a toy drive for Kosair Charities, and also organized a food drive for the underprivileged children in her community. The confidence conference in the most recent of her community events and Olivia Allen has promised to hold another conference for the girls soon.
