Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was present at France’s third Nuit des Idées (Night of Ideas), where she discussed equality, immigration, and, most notably Nigeria.

In what was quite the memorable moment, the interviewer asked if there were any libraries in Nigeria, adding that French people didn’t know a lot about Nigeria.

Adichie answered saying she felt the question reflected poorly on French people.

Adichie, touching on immigration, said she believed all humans should be treated with equal dignity, regardless on the passport we carry.

“All human beings deserve equal dignity, and it shouldn’t depend on the passport that we carry,” she said.

Adichie also discussed the US president Donald Trump, saying, with him, there is a sense of uncertainty, and she sometimes wake up afraid.
