#History: Here’s How The Pyramid Of Egypt Originally Looked

The intrigue of ancient Egypt. Rich in culture and history, the storied Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest and only one of the seven wonders of the ancient world still standing till today.

Ever so striking, the pyramids were even more astonishing when built over 4000 years ago covered in ascending layers of huge limestone blocks, gleaming white, which upon completion reflects the powerful Egyptian sun giving the impression of a mesmerizing gold.

Built by the Egyptians in the third century BCE, the Great Pyramid were mostly built as tombs in honor of the country’s pharaohs and their consorts during the Old and Middle Kingdom periods.

As of November 2008, reports say there are about 118 or 138 Egyptian pyramids, most of them located near Cairo,
The Great Pyramid at Giza in the 19th century, was revered as a symbol of power.
