From Broke To Self-made Billionaire: The Media Mogul Who Created Her Own Happily Ever After! The Victim. The Survivor. The Champion!
What makes a person bounce back from the most staggering defeats?
What makes a person bounce back, stronger than ever even when life mercilessly decides to deal its toughest of blows while others simply give up?
Self belief? Courage? A person’s makeup? Or is it perhaps resilence -That uncommon ability to adapt well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats? Or maybe it’s a combination of all?
Whether or not we agree life is fair or not, one saying holds true – “When life gives you lemons, make BADASS lemonade!” Oprah Winfrey: A poor ghetto girl born in the rural Mississippi in January 29, 1954 had an unstable childhood to butter it up that is: poverty, switched homes multiple times, was sexually assaulted by family, lost a baby at age 14, got fired from her job as a reporter at Baltimore’s WJZ-TV in 1977- her boss tagging her “unfit for television news”, how bad could it get right?
But no, she didn’t quit! Rather, the spirited black queen decided to rise above her victim tag and challenge the status quo. It soon began to pay off: In the mid-1970s, Winfrey became the first black woman to anchor a nightly news program in Nashville at the age of 19 while in college.
In 1986, the rising star launched her hit eponymous talk show – The Oprah Winfrey Show, there was no contest, she was crowned the “queen of all media.” It had 25 internationally syndicated seasons of success winning 16 Daytime Emmys including Best Talk Show. Chairman and CEO of Harpo, Inc., Winfrey made history yet again when she became the first first woman to own and produce her own talk show.
By the time the daytime talk show ended in 2011, @oprah Winfrey had already amassed great wealth, she became the first black female self-made billionaire in 2003 aged 49, many thanks to her business empire.
Incredibly accomplished, Winfrey proudly sits at the helm of a multi billion dollar empire as one of the wealthiest and most successful entreprenuers in the world. #blacklove#blackexcellence#woman#inspiration#goals#oprah#strong
