Yewande Zaccheaus is the founder and CEO of Eventful, a well-known firm in Lagos that specializes in event planning, venue management, and consultancy. Prior to founding Eventful Ltd in 2002, she had over 18 years of corporate and legal expertise as a lawyer and former banker.
Yewande earned her law degree from Cambridge University in England in 1984 after graduating from the University of Lagos in 1982. She just finished the AMP program at IESE, Barcelona, a prestigious international business school.
She began working for the Nigerian-American Merchant Bank as a legal officer. She joined Ecobank Nigeria Plc in 1989 as the organization’s first company secretary and legal adviser following a brief spell in private practice. She left her position as deputy general manager in 2002 to start Eventful.
Yewande is dedicated to changing Nigeria’s events and entertainment scene. She is the organizer of The Street Souk, a fair for millennials highlighting urban street clothing, The Fashion Souk, a fashion expo showing the value chain of the Nigerian fashion industry, The Beauty Souk, a specialty market for beauty fans, and The Food Souk, a world-class food and beverage festival. These festivals have developed into yearly social landmarks in Lagos.
Women in Management and Business (WIMBIZ), an organization founded with the goal of raising the visibility of women in management, business, and the public sector, counts Yewande as a founding Trustee and a former Chairperson.
She is the author of four inspirational publications, God’s Waiting Room 1, 2, 3, and 4, which were inspired by her own story and intended to uplift couples who were having trouble getting pregnant.
In honor of her exceptional entrepreneurship, Yewande most recently earned the renowned International Women’s Entrepreneurial Challenge (IWEC) Award in New York.
